Joseph's First People

Thanks to a friend's blog, I learned that one day during a child's fourth year (age three something), they will go from squiggles and scribbles to drawing people.  Joseph's day was April 2!  He's drawn faces for a while, but never heads, bodies and limbs.  His first person above is "Statue of Mary."  Then he drew St. Benedict, then another St. Benedict, then Mommy, then Simon and finally Daddy.  When he brought his Daddy portrait to Michael, he complimented it then asked, "Where are my arms?"  Joseph promptly ran back to his desk and dutifully added two arms, which you see above.  All the others were armless until then.

Off course I saved all the pictures for his keepsake book.

  1. How much fun! You know what? Since John went on that streak of drawing stick figures, he hasn't drawn a one! It lasted a few days and that was it!
