Clara Turns One!

Clara celebrated her first birthday last week (May 2.) It feels as though she has always been a part of our family, and not only for the past year. She is loved and adored by her older brothers who are often vying for position to be the first to greet her or play with her in the morning. When I returned from a weekend away recently, they seemed to have missed her even more than they missed me (which is fine by me, I love to observe the love and care between siblings!) She is almost always smiling and happy. She likes to be in on the joke and will start yuking it up whenever she sees the rest of us laughing about something. She often plays 'shy,' even with her own daddy, but is also very friendly and will happily crawl into the laps of virtual strangers (to her, not me!)

She doesn't yet walk, but she will now stand unsupported for a few seconds at a time. She is very perceptive and often knows what sorts of things we don't want her to do, which she indicates with a shake of her head, and then proceeds to perform the forbidden act! (Like chewing on a book, for example.) She says, "this" and "tha" and "dada" and "deeda" (I think that means "brother") and does several signs (which she has picked up much faster than her brothers did) such as milk, potty, more/want, dog, please, hi and bye.

And since I have been so bad about posting pictures on a regular basis, here is a year's worth of photos in one post!
